E.C.I.C.L - Episcopal Commission for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life

Episcopal Commission for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life
Mission and Tasks of the Commission

The unity between Institutes of Consecrated Life, Societies of Apostolic Life and the hierarchy of the Church favors the pastoral care of the whole. In fact, the profession of evangelical counsels first appears as a sign that can and must effectively encourage all members of the Church to fulfill joyfully the duties inherent in their Christian vocation. Then it is a living example of special dedication to the Church, the Lord’s Body for the sole cause of the love of Heaven and neighbor. By voluntarily following the chaste, poor and obedient Christ, the members of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life are called to collaborate with their Bishops.

Finally, the profession of evangelical counsels is a response to the call to holiness. They indeed offer to God an eminent sacrifice of praise, and illustrate the people of God with abundant fruits of holiness.

Through the Episcopal Commission for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the Bishops members of the CEPR vow for their activities in the local Church.

This is why the Commission is called upon to :
 Present Christ by the profession of the evangelical counsels,
 Promote the integration of religious into the overall pastoral care,
 Maintain relations between the Bishops who are members of the CEPR and the associations of Major Superiors (es) USUMA and ASUMA ;
 Ensure that the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life live their charisma and contribute to the building of the Church in Rwanda,
 Follow and give notice to the Bishops of the evolution of embryonic pious associations.
